ফারাজী পাড়া , খুলনা, বাংলাদেশ । বর্ণাঢ্য শৈশব ,কৈশ্যর এবং বিবাহোত্তর জীবন কেটেছে খুলনা শহরে , এবং দেশে- বিদেশে । রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে বাংলা অনার্স ও মাস্টার্স শেষ করেছেন । 

স্বামী অধ্যাপক ডঃ কে এ কাজিম এর সাথে “কুয়েট” ক্যাম্পাসে দীর্ঘ দিন বাস করেছেন । ভারতে পাঁচ বছর এবং পরবর্তী সময়ে কানাডায় স্হায়ী আসন গেড়েছেন স্বামী এবং পুত্র রায়হান খন্দকার এবং রুম্মান খন্দকার কে নিয়ে ।

*** সত্তরের মাঝামাঝি সময় থেকেই তার লেখার প্রকাশনা শুরু । 

খুলনার সব জনপ্রিয় পত্রিকা এবং বাংলাদেশের বিশিষ্ট সব দৈনিক , সাপ্তাহিক, এবং মাসিক পত্রিকায় তাঁর লেখার প্রকাশনা হয়েছে । পরবর্তী কালে কানাডায় প্রকাশিত বিভিন্ন পত্রিকা গুলোতে লিখে যাচ্ছেন একাধারে—-কলাম, ছোটগল্প, উপন্যাস এবং কবিতা । এছাড়া টরেন্টোর বিশিষ্ট ম্যাগাজিন-“ প্রবাসী কন্ঠ” এর উনি একজন নিয়মিত কলামিস্ট ।

সারাজীবন ধরে মানুষ কে দেখা এবং বোঝা তার একটা নেশার মত। এবং পরবর্তী সময়ে এই দেখাটাই তাঁর লেখনির প্রধান উপজীব্য হয়ে যায় ।

রীনা গুলশান একাধারে- কবিতা, ছোটগল্প, উপন্যাস , প্রবন্ধ এবং কলাম লিখে থাকেন । এছাড়া উনি সঙ্গিত ও রন্ধন শিল্পের প্রতি অসম্ভব অনুরক্ত ॥

ফৌজদারহাট ক্যাডেট কলেজের একজন কৃতি প্রাক্তন ছাত্র তিনি অল্প বয়েসে মুক্তিযুদ্ধে যোগদান করেছিলেন। তার বিস্তর লেখা রয়েছে বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধকালীন বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা নিয়ে। পেশায় একাউন্ট্যান্ট ছিলেন। লিখেছেন অনিয়মিত, প্রধানত ইংরেজিতে। তার মুক্তিযুদ্ধকালীন অভিজ্ঞতা এবং লেখনীর অনাড়ম্বর কিন্তু মনগ্রাহী ভঙ্গী পাঠকদেরকে সহজেই মুগ্ধ করে।

জসিম মল্লিক। জন্মঃ ১৭ মার্চ ১৯৬১, বরিশাল, বাংলাদেশ।  কথাসাহিত্যিক  এবং সাংবাদিক।  জীবন যে এক আশ্চর্য্য গল্প, বয়ান; জসিম মল্লিক তার নিপুণ কারিগর। যে জীবনকে নিবারন করা যায় না, অনিবার্য; জসিম সেই কাহিনীই তুলে ধরেন। গভীর বোধ, বেদনা আর বিহলতা না থাকলে জীবনকে কতটুকুই বা বোঝা যায়। বোঝে মানুষ? হয়তো তা বুঝতেই জসিম ছুটে যান বরিশাল থেকে টরন্টো, নিউইয়র্ক থেকে লসএঞ্জেলেস, কোলকাতা থেকে ওয়াশিংটন ডিসি , আবার লন্ডন থেকে ডালাস। পৃথিবীর এ প্রান্ত থেকে ও প্রান্ত। ডানা ঝাপটানো পাখির মতোন। এই বয়ে চলা, উড়ে চলাই তাকে ঋদ্ধ করেছে, জীবনের বোধ ও গভীরতায় করেছে সমৃদ্ধ। তাই হতাশাকে প্রশ্রয় দেন না তিনি। জসিমের লেখায় ও যাপনে তাই ফুটে উঠে। কেননা জসিম জানেন, জীবন মানেই ব্যর্থতা না, সেখানে সফলতাও আছে,  শুধু ব্যর্থ বলে কোন জীবন নেই। তা তিনি বিশ্বাসও করেন না। তাই জসিমের চরিত্ররা হারতে হারতে জিতে যায, জিততে জিততে হেরে যায়। কিন্তু সেই হেরে যাওয়াটা সৈয়দ ওয়ালী উল্লাহর উজানে মৃত্যুর মতো। পাওলো কোয়েলহোর আবার তল থেকে উঠে আসার মতো, হারাকু মুরাকামির ভাঙচুর ভাঙচুর শব্দের মধ্যেও জয়ের প্রবল স্বপ্ন। বিশ্ব ভূগোলের অভিজ্ঞতা ও বাসীন্দা তিনি। তাই তার কাহিনী, চরিত্র নির্দিষ্ট কোন ভূগোল নির্দেশ করে না। তাই তার বলা রাঢ়িখালের মেয়েটির গল্প হয়ে উঠে টরন্টোর জেনিফারের গল্প। এই যে স্পর্শ বিন্দুকে ছুঁয়ে যাওয়া ও এক হওয়া-এটাই লেখককে বৈশ্বিক মর্যাদা দেয়। আন্তর্জাতিকতায় জসিম মল্লিক তাই ভিন্নধারার এক কাহিনীকথক। স্বতন্ত্র, বলিষ্ট, উচ্চ মার্গীয়।

দীর্ঘ চার দশকের বেশি সময় ধরে লেখালেখি ও সাংবাদিকতার জীবনে তাঁর অভিজ্ঞতা বিপুল ও বিশাল। এই বিশাল অভিজ্ঞতার উপদান নিয়েই তিনি নির্মাণ করেছেন অসংখ্য গল্প  উপন্যাস এবং সমাজ সচেতন মূলক বিভিন্ন লেখা। এ পর্যন্ত প্রায় ৪২টি গ্রন্থ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। পাঠকপ্রিয় এই লেখকের সব বই-ই দেশের খ্যাতনামা প্রকাশনী থেকে প্রকশিত হয়েছে। তারমধ্যে আছে উপন্যাস, ছোটগল্প, প্রবন্ধ, নিবন্ধ ও স্মৃতিকথার বই। তুলে এনেছেন জীবনের চরম সত্য আর বাস্ততাকে। তাঁর সপ্রতিভ, ঋজু, সংহত, সংবেদী ভাষা আর বিষয় বৈচিত্রের স্বকীয়তা ও নিজস্বতা বরাবরই লক্ষযোগ্য। সাধারণতঃ তিনি সামাজিক এবং সম্পর্কের বিষয়গুলো নিয়ে লিখতে স্বাচ্ছন্দবোধ করেন। মানুষের সম্পর্কের যে মনোজাগতিক বিষয় আছে সেটাকে তিনি অনুপঙ্খভাবে তুলে আনেন তার লেখায়। এছাড়া প্রকৃতি, নদী আর গ্রাম তার লেখার বেশিরভাগ জুড়ে থাকে। জনিপ্রয় কথাসাহিত্যিক হিসেবে বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন মঞ্চে আমন্ত্রিত হয়েছেন, বক্ততা করেছেন। ভৌগলিক রেখা আর সীমানায় বিশ্বাস করেন না বলেই হয়তো জসিম মানুষকে আশ্চর্য্য ছুঁতে পারেন।

জসিম মল্লিক বাংলা একাডেমি, জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাব এবং বরিশাল ক্লাবের আজীবন সদস্য এবং বাংলাদেশ জনসংযোগ সমিতির শিক্ষা ও গবেষনা সম্পাদক ছিলেন। ২০০৩ সাল থেকে  এক ছেলে, এক মেয়ে  ও স্ত্রী নিয়ে কানাডার টরন্টোতে  বসবাস করছেন। জসিম মল্লিক ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে স্নাতকোত্তর। দেশের জনপ্রিয় নিউজ ম্যাগাজিন সাপ্তাহিক বিচিত্রা ও সাপ্তাহিক২০০০ এ ১৯৮৩ সাল থেকে সাংবাদিকতা করেছেন। টরন্টো থেকে প্রকাশিত সাপ্তাহিক ভোরের আলো, বাংলা কাগজ, দেশের আলো, বাংলা মেইল ও প্রবাসী কন্ঠ পত্রিকায় নিয়মিত কলাম লিখেছেন। নিউইয়র্ক থেকে প্রকাশিত জনপ্রিয় প্রথম আলো ও বাংলাদেশ প্রতিদিন পত্রিকায় নিয়মিত কলাম লিখছেন। নিউইয়র্কের ঠিকানা ও বাংলাদেশের দৈনিক কালের কন্ঠ পত্রিকার কানাডা প্রতিনিধি হিসাবে দ্বায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন। টরন্টো বইমেলার অন্যতম আয়োজক। এছাড়া একুশে গ্রন্থমেলা, নিউইয়র্ক বইমেলা, কোলকাতা বইমেলায় নিয়মিত যোগ দেন। ২০২২ সালে সাহিত্যে বিশেষ অবদানের জন্য বাংলা একাডেমি সৈয়দ ওয়ালীউল্লাহ পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন।  মুক্তিযুদ্ধের আদর্শে বিশ্বাসী।

Kazi Moynul Huq

কবিতা লিখতাম ছোটবেলা থেকে। কবি হবার জন্য নয়। এটা ছিল এক ধরণের খেলা। কোনো একটা কবিতা পড়ে ওই ভঙ্গিতে একই ছন্দে লেখার চেষ্টা করতাম। তখন ছন্দের উপর কোনো বইও পড়িনি। ছন্দের নাম না জানলেও ছন্দকে বুঝে নিতে খুব একটা সমস্যা হত না। কিন্তু লেখা জমিয়ে রাখার স্বভাব ছিল না। গল্প লিখতে শুরু করি একটি সাহিত্য আড্ডায় যুক্ত হয়ে। চাকরি করে গল্প লেখা বেশ কঠিন। গল্প নিয়ে চিন্তা করলে রাতে ঘুম হয় না। অফিসে ঝামেলা হয়। কিন্তু গল্প লেখাটা বেশ মজার। অনেক ভাবতে হয়। চরিত্র প্রেক্ষাপটকে বাস্তবিক করে তুলতে হয়। অবসরে গেলে জমিয়ে গল্প লিখব বলে ভাবছি।

Mustafa Chowdhury

Mustafa Chowdhury has graduate degrees in English Literature, Bachelor of Laws, Library and Information Science and Canadian History from the University of Dhaka, University of Western Ontario, and Carleton University respectively. Having worked for 34 long years in the federal public service in Ottawa, Chowdhury retired in June 2011. Over the years, he has worked for a number of federal departments and agencies including Library and Archives, Public Service Commission, Employment and Immigration, Human Resources Development Canada, Canadian Heritage, Treasury Board of Canada and Health Canada. Commencing in 2007, Mustafa’s last stint in the public service was with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

Using his human resources management expertise in the private and public sectors, Chowdhury traveled across Canada to conduct Employment Equity (EE) audits of employer organizations covered the Federal Contractors’ Program. At Canadian Heritage, he played a key role liaising with stakeholders within and outside the Government and developed policy tools, such as, the Diversity/Inclusion Lens for policy analysts and program managers. At Public Service Commission, he administered the National Visible Minority Employment Program in the National Capital Region designed to enhance equitable representation in the federal public service.

As well, he provided advice and guidance to the Presidents of the Public Service Commission and Public Service Human Resources Management Canada on emerging HR issues, strategic direction, visioning exercise and communication. At Treasury Board, he led government-wide projects/studies, conducted research and developed and implemented innovative strategies, policies, guidelines, best practices, results-oriented tools and continuous learning environment to support renewal of the federal Public Service. He also developed strategic goals of the Montreal-based Eqitas-International Centre for Human Rights Education, ensured their implementation nationally and internationally.

Chowdhury is the recipient of several awards for his contributions to the public service and to his profession. These include:

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award and a pin by Marie-France Lalonde, Member of Parliament for Orleans for “hard work and dedication that have made a difference in our community and country.” October 2022, Ottawa.

A crest from Chandra Arya, Member of Parliament for Nepean, recognizing Mustafa Chowdhury’s “Service to the Bangla community and beyond,” in May 2022, Ottawa.

• Picking Up the Pieces: 1971 War Babies’ Odyssey from Bangladesh to Canada was published by Xlibris, Bloomington, Indiana, USA in 2015.
• UNCONDITIONAL LOVE: Story of Adoption of 1971 War Babies was published in Bangladesh by Academic Press and Publishers Library in 2016.

Atia Nasreen

Nasreen is a Chemist and an educator (retired). She completed her Master’s degree from the Chemistry department of the University of Dhaka (1974) and joined the same department as a lecturer. After teaching there for two years, she moved to Papua New Guinea where she taught in the University of Papua New Guinea and did research in the field of Environmental Chemistry. From her research work she published several papers. After teaching there for six years, Nasreen moved to Australia. She taught in the University of Sydney for five years. Later Nasreen moved to secondary teaching. She did research work in the field of Nutrition. She has written a book on Health and Wellbeing along with Dr. Jesse Chowdhury.

Travelling is Nasreen’s passion. During her busy teaching life, she went out to travel the world whenever she got time. After officially retiring in 2016, Nasreen went out to travel the world for eighteen months. During this period, she travelled covering to six continents and forty-three countries. She came back to Australia in 2018. She started teaching again from 2019 and continued teaching till May 2022. Now, Nasreen is enjoying her retired life focusing on her hobbies.

Nasreen is writing an e-book on her travel. She has completed her first volume. She will keep writing as writing is her passion. In total she has travelled to 62 countries, most of the time as a solo traveler.

Music is Nasreen another passion and she is a devotee of Tagore and sings Tagore’s song. She has released her CD in 2018.

Nasreen is proud mother of two children, Dr. Faisal Ghani (a renowned scientist and CEO of SOLARISKIT) and Sayeeda Naheed Ghani (a clinical psychologist). She is a proud grandmother of three grand children from her two children.

Ruma Bosu

আদি বাড় বিক্রমপুরের পর্ব দেউলভোগ গ্রাম হলেও, আমার জন্ম, বেড়ে ওঠা সবটাই নারায়ণগঞ্জ শহরেই হয়েছে। বিয়ের আগের  জীবনের সবকিছু এই ছোট্ট শহরকে ঘিরেই আবর্তিত হয়েছে। ছোটবেলা থেকেই একটা সাংস্কৃতিক পরিমণ্ডলের মাঝে বেড়ে ওঠার জন্য কবিতা আবৃত্তি, বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতা, বিভিন্ন রচনা প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশগ্রহণ করে এসেছি। যদিও স্কুল ম্যাগাজিনে প্রথম ছাপার অক্ষরে আমার প্রথম ছোট গল্প  বের হয়েছিল, তবে তার আগে থেকেই নিয়মিত ডাইরি লেখার একটা অভ্যাস আমি আমার দাদুর কাছ থেকে পেয়েছিলাম। বই পড়তে, আবৃত্তি করতে, গান শুনতে আর বিভিন্ন ঘরানার রান্না করতে আমি ভীষণ ভালোবাসি। 

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে ব্যবস্থাপনায় মাস্টার্স করে কানাডাতে উচ্চশিক্ষা নিয়ে অটোয়াতে সরকারি চাকরি করছি। বাংলাকে ভলোবেসে নিয়মিত ছেলেদের নিয়ে আবৃত্তি করে যাচ্ছি। তাছাড়া দু ছেলেকে দিয়ে অটোয়ার মঞ্চে আবৃত্তি ও অভিনয় করিয়ে যাচ্ছি। এদেশে বাংলা বলার বা শোনার লোকের অভাব, আর এই তাগিদেই ডাইরির বাইরে অন্তরজালে প্রথম বাংলা লেখা শুরু করি। অন্তরজাল থেকেই বিভিন্ন কবির সাথে মিলে কবিতার বই, চারটি সনেটের সাময়িকী “মাত্রা”, ও একটা চিঠির বই “যাও পাখি বলো তারে” বের হয়। তাছাড়া বিভিন্ন সাময়িকীতে ও খবরের কাগজে লেখা বের হতে থাকে। ২০২১ শে আমার দুটো উপন্যাস “হিয়া” ও “কুহু কথন”বই হিসেবে ছেপে বের হয়। ২০২৩ এর বইমেলাতে আমার প্রথম গল্পের বই “ডায়েরীর ধূসর পাতা” ও কাব্যগ্রন্থ “বোধের ভাঙা গড়া” বের হয়।

জীবনে সৃষ্টিতে আমি যে আনন্দ বা তৃপ্তি পাই, সেটা আমি ভোগ বিলাসে পাই না। সে সৃষ্টি আমার সন্তানের জন্ম বা কোনো লেখায় বা কোনো নতুন গাছ লাগিয়ে, অথবা যে কোনো হাতের কাজ বা রান্নায় হতে পারে। আমার সব সৃষ্টির মধ্যেই আমার যত সুখ লুকিয়ে আছে। উপরওয়ালার কাছে একটাই প্রার্থণা-  জীবনের শেষ ক্ষণ পর্যন্তও আমি যেন সৃষ্টির আনন্দ উপভোগ করতে পারি। যে  মুহূর্তে আমি আর সৃষ্টিশীল থাকব না তার আগমুহূর্তে যেন মৃত্যুকে আলিঙ্গন করতে পারি।

১৯৭৬ সালে লালমাটিয়ার সি থ্রি নম্বর বাসায় জন্ম। তারপর শিক্ষা জীবন শুরু হয় মেরীল‍্যান্ড কিন্ডার গার্টেন স্কুল থেকে আর শেষ হয় ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নৃবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ থেকে। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে শিক্ষাবর্ষ ছিল ১৯৯৫-৯৬

ভালোবাসেন বই পড়তে, বাগান করতে আর গান শুনতে। উপভোগ করেন রাতের নিস্তব্ধতাকে। গল্প বা বন্ধুদের সাথে আড্ডা তাকে সেভাবে টানেনা।

Rummana Chowdhury

Poet, Activist and Cultural Personality Rummana Chowdhury is the author of 50 books in both Bengali and English, comprising of poetry, short stories, columns, essays and novels. She excelled academically and was Bangladesh’s national badminton, (1975-1978 ) recitation and debate champion and also presented radio, TV and stage shows. 

Rummana immigrated to Canada in 1982 and presently works as an Accredited Interpreter/Translator with the Canadian Government from 1990. She worked with the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), Discovery Channel and has also been designated as an Expert Witness on Bangladesh by the Supreme Court of St. John’s, Newfoundland since 1997.

Rummana has received multiple literary awards from Bangladesh, India, Europe and North America on Diaspora literature and translation works. In May of 2022, she has won the 2022 IPPY Award (Independent Publishers Book Award), Bronze Medal for Multicultural Fiction and also one of five finalists for the Independent Book Award, June of 2022, both from the US, for her book DUSK IN THE FROG POND AND OTHER STORIES by Inanna Publications of Toronto, Canada. In October of 2022, this book was amongst the nominations for the Governor General’s Literary Award of Canada.

Rummana is the President of the Toronto Branch of the Bangladesh Lekhika Songho, Advisory Member of BACHONIK, Canada and Ontario Bengali Cultural Society. She was also on the Board of Director of OTIMLD Monument Inc. which succeeded in establishing the first Martyrs Memorial Monument in Canada, a permanent Shahid Minar for all people of all languages.

Shishir Konna

পুরো নাম রোমিনা লোদী, জয়িতা। দেশের বাড়ি সিরাজগঞ্জ। ঢাকা থেকে মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক পড়া শেষে উচ্চশিক্ষা লাভের জন্য ১৯৯২ সালে পাড়ি জমান সুদূর যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে। নিউইয়র্কের সিটি ইউনিভার্সিটি থেকে অনার্স সম্পন্ন করে চাকুরীরত ছিলেন নিউইয়র্কে অবস্থিত জাতিসংঘের হেডকোয়ার্টারে। বিবাহোত্তর টেক্সাসের অস্টিন শহরে নতুন জীবন শুরু এবং টেক্সাস স্টেট ইউনিভার্সিটি মাস্টার্স সম্পন্ন করেন। দীর্ঘ বিরতির পর কর্মজীবনে ফেরত গিয়ে তিনি শিক্ষকতার পথ বেছে নিয়েছেন।

নামে ওয়েবে একটি বাংলা ব্লগ শুরু করেন। এই ব্লগে তিনি জগত, জীবন ও মনের বহুমাত্রিক অনুভূতি নিয়ে তার লেখার বিষয়গুলো নির্বাচন করেন এবং নিয়মিত ব্লগ পোস্ট করেন। এছাড়াও নিউইয়র্ক থেকে প্রকাশিত সাপ্তাহিক ঠিকানা পত্রিকায় তার কলাম ছাপে। গত বছর তিনি ঠিকানা সাহিত্য সম্মাননা পদক-২০২২ এ ভূষিত হন। বিভিন্ন অনলাইন ম্যাগাজিন ও পত্রিকায়ও তার বিচরণ বস্তুনিষ্ঠ লেখা নিয়ে। চমৎকার লেখনী, সাবলীল ভাষা ও ভিন্নধর্মী লেখার স্টাইলের জন্য তিনি প্রায়ই পাঠকমহলে প্রশংসা কুড়ান। 

২০২২ এর একুশে বইমেলায় তার প্রথম প্রকাশিত বই, দূর পরবাসে। দূর পরবাসে বইটি সাজানো হয়েছিল লেখকের ব্লগ থেকে নেয়া দীর্ঘ প্রবাস জীবনের আনন্দ বেদনার গল্প দিয়ে। এবারের একুশে বইমেলা ২০২৪ এ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে লেখকের দ্বিতীয় বই, একটু কথা ছিলো। তাম্রলিপি প্রকাশনার এই বইটিতে সংকলিত হয়েছে ভিন্নধর্মী ঘরানার বিচিত্র সব আত্মকথন। যার কথাগুলো এতটাই সময়োপযোগী, বাস্তবসম্মত ও কালনির্ভর যে পাঠকের মনে হবে এ যেন তাদেরই মনের কথা। লেখকের বিশ্বাস, তার সৃষ্ট দুটো বই পড়েই পাঠকেরা অনেক আনন্দিত এবং উপকৃত হবেন।

Shuja Rasheed

শুজা রশীদের জন্ম খুলনা শহরে। বর্নাঢ্য শৈশব ও বাল্যকাল কেটেছে শহরে-গ্রামে, দেশে-বিদেশে। বন্দী সৈনিক (মরহুম ক্যাপ্টেন ডাক্তার আব্দুর রশীদ) পিতার সঙ্গী হয়ে পাকিস্থানের বন্দী শিবিরে কেটেছে বাল্যকালের বেশ কিছুটা সময়। ঝিনাইদহ ক্যাডেট কলেজের প্রাক্তন ছাত্র, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে এপ্লায়েড ফিজিক্স এন্ড ইলেকট্রনিক্সে অনার্স এবং মাস্টার্স শেষ করে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে পাড়ি জমান উচ্চশীক্ষার্থে। বর্তমানে স্থায়ী নিবাস গেড়েছেন কানাডাতে এবং চিত্ত-চেতনা নামে একটি দ্বিভাষিক অনলাইন পত্রিকার সম্পাদনা করেন ও প্রধানত ইংরেজিতে লেখেন। তার প্রকাশিত বাংলা উপন্যাসের সংখ্যা বিশের উপরে, যার মধ্যে বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখযোগ্য দামামা, নিশীথ কুহু, চাঁদনী, জুজুবা, জ্যোৎস্না রাতে, এই যাত্রা, মোহনায় দাঁড়িয়ে, শুভ্র বর্ষণ । ছোট গল্প সঙ্কলনের মধ্যে সুখে দুখে কানাডা ।

Sujay Datta

সুজয় দত্ত বর্তমানে আমেরিকার ওহায়ো রাজ্যের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পরিসংখ্যানতত্ত্বের (statistics) অধ্যাপক। জৈবপরিসংখ্যান বিশ্লেষণতত্ত্ব (biostatistics) তাঁর গবেষণার বিষয়। তিনি কলকাতার বরানগরের ইন্ডিয়ান স্ট্যাটিসটিকাল ইনস্টিটিউটের প্রাক্তন ছাত্র। কিন্তু তরুণ বয়স থেকেই সাহিত্য তাঁর সৃজনশীলতার মূল প্রকাশমাধ্যম, সাহিত্য তাঁর মনের আরাম। ছোটগল্প, বড় গল্প, প্রবন্ধ ও রম্যরচনার পাশাপাশি নিয়মিত কবিতাও লেখেন। এছাড়া করেছেন বহু অনুবাদ — হিন্দি থেকে বাংলায় এবং বাংলা থেকে ইংরেজিতে। গত পনেরো বছরে আমেরিকার বেশ কয়েকটি সাহিত্য-পত্রিকায় ও পুজাসংখ্যায় তাঁর লেখা প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। তিনি দীর্ঘদিন  হিউস্টনের “প্রবাস বন্ধু” ও সিনসিনাটির “দুকুল” পত্রিকার সম্পাদনা ও সহসম্পাদনার কাজও করেছেন। এছাড়া  অস্ট্রেলিয়ার “বাতায়ন” পত্রিকাটির জন্মলগ্ন থেকে সেটির সঙ্গে নিবিড়ভাবে জড়িয়ে আছেন। এই তিনটি পত্রিকায় প্রকাশিত লেখাগুলি ছাড়াও “অপার বাংলা” ও  “গল্পপাঠ” নামক ওয়েব-ম্যাগাজিনদুটিতে, নিউজার্সির “আনন্দলিপি” নামক পত্রিকাটিতে ও “অভিব্যক্তি” নামক ওয়েব-ম্যাগাজিনে, ইংল্যান্ড থেকে প্রকাশিত পূজাসংকলন “মা তোর মুখের বাণী”তে, কানাডার অন্টারিও থেকে প্রকাশিত “ধাবমান” পত্রিকায়,   ভারতের বিশাখাপত্তনম থেকে প্রকাশিত বৈদ্যুতিন পত্রিকা “কুলায়ফেরা” এবং মুম্বাই থেকে প্রকাশিত কাব্যগ্রন্থ “কবিতা পরবাসে” রয়েছে তাঁর লেখা। সম্প্রতি নিউ জার্সির “আনন্দ মন্দির” তাঁকে “গায়ত্রী  গামার্স স্মৃতি সাহিত্য পুরস্কারে” সম্মানিত করেছে। সাহিত্যরচনা ছাড়া অন্যান্য নেশা বই পড়া, দেশবিদেশের যন্ত্রসঙ্গীত শোনা ও কয়েকটি বাদ্যযন্ত্র বাজানো।

Tasneem Hossain

Tasneem Hossain is a multi-lingual poet from Bangladesh. She writes poems in English,

Urdu and Bangla. She is also columnist, op-ed and fiction writer, translator, educator and training consultant.

She is an author of three poetry books: ‘Grass in Green,’ ‘The Pearl Necklace,’ ‘Floating

Feathers’ and a book of articles ‘Split and Splice’. Four more books are underway.

Grass in Green has been published by South Arizona Press, USA. The book is available in 16 countries on Amazon, other online bookstores and bookshops.

Poetry, to her, is music through words; an ever-flowing river reflecting all that surrounds us.

As an author, she tries to spread message of love, hope, mercy and create an awareness of social responsibilities.

Tasneem Hossain runs a project ‘Life in Lyrics’, a literary network, with no borders facilitating exchange of ideas, cultures, traditions and literature. She also conducts international poetry workshops on this platform.

Many organisations have adopted the tools and techniques she has created as standard throughout their organisations.
She majored in English Language and Literature from Dhaka University.

She also worked as newscaster, commentary reader and radio presenter in radio Bangladesh for 10 years. She has also directed some Shakespearean plays. She is an active sportsperson.

She resides, sharing time, in Canada and Bangladesh.

Her aim is to spread valuable knowledge to help people grow through training, and bring hope and peace in the world through her literary works.
